    Easter Competition

    March 2016

Easter is one of the finest times of the year.  Spring is in the air and our gardens are full of lovely, colourful flowers.

This year, the School Council decided to organise an Easter competition for all students from Kinder to Year 6. Parents/guardians were invited to help out the students in creating this craft.   One of the aims of this competition was to encourage parents/guardians to spend quality time with their children. Another aim was for the children to show their creativity using recycled material thus making the children more aware of the environment.

The main aim for this competition was reached. Seventy-five entries were submitted, all different and highly creative.  A lot of recycled material was used in these crafts.  Feedback from parents was very positive.  Both parents and children were eager and excited to make a wonderful Easter craft.  Some parents even told us that they have discovered a new personal talent.

The crafts were all numbered so the judges had no idea to whom the crafts belonged. Two art teachers were chosen as judges.  To choose a winner from each category was a challenge.  The judges professionally followed all criteria set by the School Council to reach the final decisions.

Our Kindergarten children also took part in the competition by making collages, paintings and drawings.  All works were exhibited in the school foyer for all to enjoy and appreciate.

During morning assembly a specific certificate was given to all participants. Winners from each category were also awarded by an interesting book.

Primary Qormi St Sebastian School Council has organised this competition for the first time.  Feedback received, motivates us to organise similar competitions.

On behalf of the School Council, I congratulate and thank the children, their parents/guardians for such wonderful work. Their dedication was the success of the crafts presented.  Thank you all for supporting the School Council initiatives.
